Hello!

My name is MAKIE. I made my way to the Deep South (Atlanta, GA) from my family’s horse farm in Blue Earth, MN (by way of singing & dancing across the U.S.–from NYC to L.A.–and internationally). I grew up listening to my aunt sing back-up for Anne Murray, and watching my parents harmonize as wedding singers. It’s understandable how music became part of my natural language. I’m a small-town, country girl at heart, and I have a deep passion for storytelling through song. My love of vintage is real, and you’ll sense that in my sound as it blends the styles of Americana, Indie Folk, and Country–drawing comparisons to Lucinda Williams, Jewel, Jenny Lewis, and Kacey Musgraves.
My catalog is perfect as a road trip playlist for free-spirited and hopeful souls. I am blessed to say, I’ve had the chance to write for and have my music placed on various film and television soundtracks. I love bringing characters to life not only through song, but through dialogue and dance as an actress & dancer for stage and film as well.

This past December I enjoyed a personal invite from the Cathy family to debut my song, “Good Old Fashioned Christmas” at the Chick-fil-A Headquarters Christmas devotional. Faith and family are central to my life. I’m a home-school mama, wife to a stunt man, and a bonus mom, too. My forthcoming new album, titled, Constellations, is dedicated to my late father who was a true horseman and countryman. The album will kick-off with a Valentine’s Day duet, “Will You Love Me When”, with Grammy-nominated, #1 charting artist, Shawn Mullins (known for hits like “Lullaby” & “Shimmer”). Six additional singles will roll out ahead of the full album vinyl release this fall.

Recorded at Real to Reel Studios, this new project is produced by Brian Collins (CMA artist & singer-songwriter) and Will Turpin (Collective Soul) of Real People Music in Atlanta, GA. I am currently scheduling my 2027 tour for Constellations while playing local shows in the Atlanta area.

Other projects I get into:
BLOOM WILD Kids (Music, Mindfulness & Movement for Youth) & the Late Bloomer Crew (encouraging Women with the sentiment that “It’s Never Too Late!”).

Why MAKIE? My full name is Makenzie. When I was just a wee sprout, my big sister couldn’t pronounce my name and called me “Makie”. The name has been with me ever since. My last name, Bloomer, came later of course, and all things “Bloom” and “Bloomer” blossomed from that!
I also have a penchant for painting, murals, and interior design (because, why not? –the creativity never stops!) @ Late Bloomer Interiors.
